On Wednesday, November 3, suspected Islamic States of West African Province (ISWAP) rebels attacked a community hospital and set fire to a telecommunications mast in Mugumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
During the raid, alleged Islamic States of West African Province (ISWAP) gunmen seized medicines and other supplies from the hospital, according to DailyTrust.
They were divided into two groups, according to a security source.
While the military was exchanging fire with a group of ISWAP members, another group entered the hospital and stole medications, a refrigerator, and some bedsheets.
“They attacked the town from behind, burning down Airtel Mast and ransacking the hospital. They went away with drugs, a refrigerator and some bedsheets,” the source said
Magumeri is some 40 kilometers away from Maiduguri, the state capital.
In other news, the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) National Leader, Bola Tinubu, has declared that anyone implicated in the Ikoyi building collapse should face sanctions.
Tinubu commended Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-decision Olu’s to penalize those charged in the collapse.
Those who failed in their obligations to prevent the building from collapsing, he said, should face consequences.
In a statement by his Media Office, the former governor of the State frowned at the regulatory failure that led to the incident.
According to Tinubu: “The collapse of a 21-storey building on Gerald Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, is a sad and painful incident.
“This tragedy should never have occurred. I endorse Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s order for an investigation into this tragedy. There are many questions to ask, and all those questions deserve full and public answers.
“We must get to the bottom of this ghastly occurrence. It is obvious and plain to us all that something went terribly wrong.
“If indeed intentional or reckless wrongdoing has been committed, severe and appropriate sanctions should find those who have been found to have shirked their fundamental responsibilities.”
