She is referred to as the Queen of ” waka ” music , a kind of unique yoruba music which has come before the advent of ‘ Fuji ‘ and ‘ juju ‘ music in Nigeria .

She is an indegene of Ijebu waterside , Ogun state . She began her musical career in the 70’s , as she released her first album titled ” Late General Muritala Ramat Muhammed ” in the year 1976 . It is of record that she was the first female musician to released album as at that time .

Salawa Abeni later married alhaji Kollington Ayinla after his first marriage failed , although the marriage crashed in the year 1994 . She is blessed with 3 children ; a girl and two lovely boys with five grandchildren .

Queen Salawa Abeni’s last son is called Atanda Ayinla popularly known as Bigsheff , a Nigerian hip – hop celebrity’s singer .

Queen Salawa Abeni’s first son is known as Sikirulahi Olayinka Akanni Ilori a.k.a Eskaysongz. He is a singer & a drummer. He is married to a white woman callled Mrs. Lois Ayomide Ilori & they are blessed with three lovely children.They are based abroad .
