Check Out Eight Female Celebrities That Were Born Male But Underwent Surgery To Change Their Gender
Celebrities are famous people in our society. They are supposed to be a role model to others because they are always in the spotlight.
Quite unfortunate that some of us see them as our idols without having knowledge about their past and what lie underneath their skins.
In this article, I will state some of the famous Hollywood’s female celebrities who we may not know were born male i.e. transgender celebrities.
1. Amiyah Scott: Amiyah Scott grew up as Arthur Scott and was from a humble background.
He was a basketball star.
Amiyah underwent gender transformation and by the time she was 23 years old, she had all the necessary procedures to be fully a woman completed.
She later started her modeling career and became famous amongst singers, rappers and athletes.
She’s now a model turned actress.
2. Lavern Cox: Lavern Cox was born male. However, growing up as a kid, he usually tells everyone that he was a girl and was ridiculed by everyone.
She attempted suicide when she was 11 years old due to the cruel homophobic bullying she went through.
After gender transformation surgery, she became the first transgender to be nominated for an Emmy award.
Lavern Cox is also an active member of the transgender society and one of the most prominent transgender celebrities in the USA.
3. Fallon Fox: Fallon Fox was the first openly transgender mixed martial art fighter in the history of MMA.
All the females she fought complained and challenged her eligibility.
She has been struggling with her gender as a boy from the age of 5.
When she was still a man, he married his girlfriend when she was 19, who bore him a child.
However, Fallon later drove trucks to save enough money for gender reassignment surgery.
In 2013, she came out openly to announce that she was a transgender.
4. Isis King: Isis King was born male but loves to do the things girls do.
Isis started hormone replacement therapy in 2007 and completed the hormone reassignment surgery and breast augmentation.
She had to leave her home for New York to pursue her career in fashion designing as she wasn’t being fully supported by her family because of her gender issue.
Isis became the first transgender to ever take part in the America’s Next Top Model competition.
5. Caitlyn Jenner: Caitlyn Jenner was formerly known as Bruce Jenner.
Bruce Jenner was a famous reality TV star and a former Olympic gold medal winning athlete who became a family man but secretly struggled with gender identity his whole life.
As a child, Bruce struggled with gender dysphoria (a stressful condition that is caused by the conflict between a person’s assigned gender and the gender they themselves identify with).
Bruce finally transformed into Caitlyn after she completed her very last surgery.
6. Janet Mock: Janet is a popular American writer, magazine editor and activist.
She went through hard time growing up as a transgender person.
She usually wished that her body matched the vision she had of herself and couldn’t understand why she wasn’t like other girls.
Janet now fights for the rights of the transgender community by supporting them through her writings.
7. Jenna Talackova: Jenna is a Canadian model who was originally born male.
She commenced her gender transformation at the age of 14.
She was fully transitioned at the age of 19.
She once filed a lawsuit against the organizers of the Miss Universe pageant and won.
She then competed but wasn’t able to win the pageant.
However, she won the hearts of many for her honesty as a transgender.
8. Carmen Carrera: Carmen Carrera was given the birth name Christopher Roman.
She is a proud American TV star and model.
Carmen underwent gender reassignment and after her transition, she was signed to W fashion magazine as a model and went on to model for various other magazines and advertisements.
It was alleged that a petition was sent to Victoria’s Secret to make her the first transgender model.
