Champions League: Wenger dishes advice to PSG over Messi, Neymar, Mbappe
Legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has advised Paris Saint-Germain to prioritise securing the long-term futures of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, rather than try to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona.
Messi and Barca were beaten 4-1 by PSG in the first-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on Tuesday night.
The 33-year-old was heavily linked with a shock move away from the Nou Camp last summer and with his current deal expiring in June, the speculation will surely arise again.
PSG would be one of the few clubs able to afford Messi, but Wenger believes the club’s priority should be to tie down Mbappe and Neymar to new long-term deals.
When asked whether PSG should try to sign Messi, Wenger told beIN Sports: “That is another question because Lionel Messi demands a huge investment.
“I would say PSG should be more focused on keeping their two best players and invest all the money they have in these two players.
“Mbappe is 22, the best player in the world maybe or the future best player in the world. When you have the next two best players in the world, you keep them.”
